Why Donald Trump is the Christian Choice.

Christians across the country have been at each other’s throats during this election. There has been ample debate over the important points and policies that Christians should denounce or stand behind. The largest of these disputes is over whether the church should align themselves with and back up Donald Trump. Many Christians find him too brash and too mean, some say his rhetoric is damaging and fundamentally ungodly, while others believe he has been killing and hurting too many minorities and vulnerable populations. Unfortunately, the media bias has infiltrated every home and finding out truth continually becomes increasingly difficult. Despite this more than ever Christians are unapologetically flying their Trump flags and hopping on board the Trump train this election cycle. I believe it is because with careful analysis one will find Donald Trump is in fact the evangelical candidate. Here are six reasons I believe Christians should vote Trump 2020.

1. Pro-Life

I believe this is the most obvious point, it is certainly one that is mentioned the most. Donald Trump is by far the most Pro-Life President since Ronald Regan. He has continually cut resources to Planned Parenthood. Our taxpayer dollars are being used to fund public abortions despite a large amount of Americans who fundamentally disagree with abortion. In 2019, the Trump Administration added a rule to Title X, which blocks federally funded health care providers from making referrals to or even informing patients about abortion providers. This was a huge move for the pro-life movement and caused a great decrease in the funding for abortion providers. Second, Donald Trump appointed pro-life supreme court justices with the hope of reevaluating and possibly overturning Roe v. Wade. If this decision were to be overturned, Donald Trump would be responsible for saving millions of unborn lives. There is still more work to do and Donald Trump has a plan to do it. As Christians we believe in the sovereignty of every God created human life, and that life begins at conception. Every child that has ever been and will be aborted has taken their place in heaven and was greeted with the loving arms of the Father, because they were created by him. Voting for Donald Trump is a vote for life and a vote to fight against this evil.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”Psalms 139:13-14

2. He declared Jerusalem the Capital of Israel

The Jews are God’s chosen people. They have been chosen by God and are to be treated as such by all who believe. Jerusalem became the capital of Israel by decree of King David 3,000 years ago, based on his understanding of God’s own choice. It has remained Israel’s capital ever since.  While there were other nations who conquered and settled in the Land of Israel, none ever declared Jerusalem as their capital. Over the past 2,000 years, even during times of occupation and persecution, a Jewish community resided there and maintained it as their “eternal capital.” We as Christians are to support Israel and acknowledge its sovereignty. Jerusalem was God’s chosen place as the capital for His chosen people and we are to acknowledge that divine choice as final. The Bible, which mentions Jerusalem more than any other place, states in the Psalms that, “the Lord has chosen Jerusalem and will dwell there forever. He also expressly calls upon God’s people to never forget Jerusalem and to “exalt it above their chief joy”. Throughout history there has been a struggle for Jerusalem to be considered a Jewish city alone, it is considered a disputed city internationally. By the United States declaring it the capital sends a message to all who will try to oppose. Once again as Christians, we believe the Bible as truth and are to be obedient to the Lord. These choices by Trump are in accordance with the Bible and the desires of the Lord.

“The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: ‘Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Write in a book all the words that I have spoken to you. For behold, days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will restore the fortunes of my people, Israel and Judah, says the Lord, and I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall take possession of it.’ These are the words that the Lord spoke concerning Israel and Judah: ‘Thus says the Lord: We have heard a cry of panic, of terror, and no peace.’”Jeremiah 30:1-31;40

3. Religious Freedom

The Democrats have waged a war on Religion. It may not be blatant, but it exists. They have worked hard to create a narrative that Christians are racist, homophobic, misogynist, unsympathetic, and intolerant. This gross generalization is a lie that is racing across society and is causing a call for policy to silence Christians and churches. During the 2020 pandemic California went so far as to banning singing in Churches as a “safety precaution”. This was a blatant attack on religious freedom and those that exercise it. Another example of this attack is in regards to the LGBT movement. While most conservatives these days tolerate gay marriage, we still want to exercise our right to disagree based on our belief in biblical teachings. There have been examples where Christian people and business, mainly in the wedding industry, have been sued and attacked for denying service to those who identify as LGBT. While I think this is a terrible business model, I do believe it is their right to deny service if they feel it violates their religious beliefs. This is part of the beauty of the free market in America. If you are offended by a business, write a review and go somewhere else. American Christians should be concerned about our right to worship freely. Churches are routinely attacked by the left and the media as an institution that preaches intolerance. The reality is that the church is taught to love all people and our enemies, but we are also called to be the light of truth in a sinful world. Some people just really don’t agree with the second part.

“But it was because of the false brethren secretly brought in, who had sneaked in to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, in order to bring us into bondage.”Galatians 2:4

4. War on Socialism

I strategically placed this point after the freedom of religion point because socialism is by far one of the biggest evils in the world and is the greatest threat to our religious freedom. In his communist writings, Karl Marx explains how religion is the biggest threat to the power of communism. It is known that the best way to implement a totalitarian government is to eliminate religion for a society. Marx explained that religion has a dual role to play. First, he believes that it supports the established order by sanctifying it and by suggesting that the political order is somehow ordained by divine authority. Second, he believes religion consoles the oppressed and exploited by offering them in heaven what they are denied upon earth. Not only that but he believes that religion plays at least partly a progressive role in that it gives the common people some idea of what a better order would be. However, when that idea of what is better is not in the form of communism, then religion becomes wholly reactionary. It then is a distraction from establishing a now possible good society on earth, deeming it a counter-revolutionary force. Therefore, in the course of building a communist society, the Marxist must fight religion because it will inevitably stand in his path. Essentially, you cannot have a God. The government is to be your god, and anyone who opposes the authority of the government shall be eliminated.

This is the epitome of forced social idolatry. In the Old Testament Moses is given the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai. The first commandment written on the stone is “You shall have no other gods before me.” In a Communist regime, we would be forced by threat of our lives to hold the government higher than our Lord and Savior. Socialism is the largest known force that will promote the death of Christians and is a direct violation of the biblical principles we hold dear.

Let us also note that socialism is the largest killer of people in history by the government. If you think the COVID deaths are high, wait until you see what socialism can do. In the last 100 years communist regimes have killed over 100 million people. Most of this was due to famine, because the government is incapable of dictating need, and when private enterprise is removed the free market is eliminated and mass poverty quickly follows. In China, Mao Zedong’s Great Leap Forward in 1958 led to a man-made famine that killed 45 million people. This was the single biggest episode of mass murder in all of world history. In the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin’s collectivization took some 6 to 10 million lives. This form of mass murder should not be tolerable to anyone in the faith.  A vote against socialism is a vote against death, against idolatry, and for religious freedom.

“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in the heavens above, on the earth below, or in the waters beneath. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on their children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing loving devotion to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.”Deuteronomy 5:6–21

5. Inclusivity

Despite the media narrative, Donald Trump is the most inclusive president in American History. He has done great things for all Americans of every race, gender, and walk of life. I will touch on minorities and women considering these are the two most disputed points when it comes to Trump.

Donald Trump has helped people of all races. Be warned, the Democrats will do anything in their power to get you to believe that this is not true. They feed off of the minority victim mentality, especially when it comes to Black America. Trump has actually done so much for the Black community in the last four years. First example, The First Step Act reformed federal prisons and sentencing laws in order to reduce recidivism, decrease the federal inmate population, and maintain public safety. As a result, more than 3,000 inmates have been released and another roughly 1,700 people convicted of crack cocaine offenses have seen their sentences reduced. Of these people, the majority were black. Not only were black people released, but this helps those with offenses in the future. It encourages those who have been sentenced to prison to change their lives and reenter society to be successful. This is a huge win for Black America because for many it is a second chance. My second example is on unemployment. Before the pandemic Trump Achieved the lowest Black and minority unemployment rate in American history. In October 2019 Black unemployment hit a mere 5.5% and Hispanic unemployment hit 3.9%. This was a huge win for these communities. It provided a means for surviving on their own without government assistance, and a way to provide a better future for their families. Speaking of a better future, take a look at example number three. Donald Trump signed a bill that increased government funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities. This bill will permanently provide more than $250 million a year to the nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities, along with dozens of other institutions that serve large shares of minority students. What better way to help and promote minorities than investing into the institutions that will provide them with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful.

There are also many examples of Donald Trump supporting the advancement of women. The most recent and apparent example is the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. She epitomizes what every woman should strive to be. She is a mother of seven, a wife, and successful judge. She is living proof that a woman really can have it all. ACB is not the only woman that has benefitted. Since the 2016 election, six million new jobs have been added and more than half of them went to women. The unemployment rate for women fell to its lowest level in six decades to 3.2% and wages across the board have been increasing. Trump also increased paid family medical leave. This allows not only women to have leave post birth, but their husbands and partners as well. This bill helps women and families start right.

Donald Trump is taking care of the people who have in the past gotten overlooked. He is taking care of everyone no matter their race, gender, or background. He has even exemplified loving his enemies, because even the Americans who hate him have benefitted from his presidency.

“‘Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?’ Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.’”Matthew 22:36-40

6. Care for the Poor

Donald Trump and his policies have taken care of the poor and impoverished in America. This was done by various means, mostly though providing people with opportunity to lift themselves out of their current situations. I find that many people on the left disagree because they believe that the best way to help the poor and struggling is to simply give them resources. While this is kind-hearted, it is ineffective. As the old saying goes; “Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime.” Therefore, Donald Trump’s care for the poor came through policy and providing opportunity. The biggest example is through his creation of new jobs. He also cut taxes across the board and began rolling back regulations that was indirectly hurting those with lower incomes. For example, at the end of March, the EPA rolled back Obama-era fuel economy standards. When these were created it added a projected $3,000 to the cost of a new car. This is an example of President Trump cutting excessive regulations, which he describes as “stealth taxation, especially on the poor.” These deregulations increase the purchasing power of working-class income by up to 15 percent. During the last three years over 15 million people came off of food stamps due to the increase in jobs. In 2018, Trump signed an executive order to bolster Opportunity Zones that were established via the GOP tax bill in 2017. The intention was to direct resources to the 8,700 Opportunity Zones. These zones would also be subject to less regulations, encouraging free market and increasing the buying power of the lower class. The White House described the executive order as a way to direct federal investment away from expensive central business districts in favor of disadvantaged areas. This comes full circle by once again providing jobs for those who most desperately need them.

“Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed.”Proverbs 19:17

Whether you like it or not, much of what Donald Trump has done has been in alignment with the Bible and what I believe God wants for the earth. Sure, he is a bit brash and obnoxious and some of the things that he says are questionable, but I still believe in the old saying “actions speak louder than words.” Take a moment though and think about how many times you have said something mean or stupid. I bet it is more than you are willing to admit, and the main difference is that you are not in the public eye. No man is perfect. Thanks to Adam and Eve it is not possible. So have some grace and vote for the policies and regulations that you believe best align with your Christianity. God is going to love you and the world no matter the outcome.
