I am not ashamed.
My heart is filled with agonizing sadness, but I feel no shame.
I am proud to be conservative. I am proud to be an American. I am proud to be Christian.
While the events in DC on January 6th are troubling, I will not stand here and proclaim that I am ashamed to be an American like so many have done. Those of you who are ashamed of your country have fallen into the collectivist trap and have forgotten what this country was founded upon.
What do you or I have to be ashamed of? I didn’t participate in the violence. Did you? I didn’t vote against my conscious. Did you? I did not violate my Christian principles. Did you? I did not speak badly to anyone. Did you? If the answer to all of these is no, then you should feel no shame.
If you are ashamed to be an American, I would challenge you to read some more of American history and find your pride again. There is a lot to be proud of, even today. If you remove the lens of media you can find lots to be proud of.
We live in a country that has freed millions of people from tyrannical government.
We are back-to-back World War Champions. Saving millions from the evil of communism.
We have the longest standing single government in human history.
We are the largest economic power in history.
We are the country with the most innovation in the world. We were the first to create the COVID vaccine.
We have the most room for personal growth and class movement in the world.
And there are many more I could list.
What does posting your shame on Facebook accomplish, other than the self-satisfaction of being “morally superior” to those who don’t or that you disagree with. If you are posting that you are ashamed of this country you are part of the problem not the solution. Shame has no place in the hearts of Americans.
Shame is from the devil.
Where there is shame, there is the enemy; and where there is the enemy, there is evil.
Shame will bring nothing that is good or just or right.
Do not fall into collectivism. Despite what people want you to believe the individualistic principles that America was founded on is what made this country great. Take your life into your own hands with the power of God and go do something with it! Why are so many waiting for the government to do that for them? This goes for people on each end of the political spectrum. All of those Trump Supporters in DC have fallen into the same trap as those who promote socialism, it has simply manifested itself differently.
My thoughts and opinions are hated by pretty much everyone. I have fellow republicans hate me, liberals hate me, and even some other Christians hate me. This is because I refuse to be a member of a group. I think for myself; I am an individual. While it is hard sometimes, I encourage you to do the same. When you remove yourself from the collectiveness of political parties, churches, or race, you will no longer have any shame. You become responsible for you. Those people no longer speak for you, only then are you truly free.
